Terms of use

Last updated: 23 October 2026

These terms apply when you use bnbongo.co.tz or the BnBongo and BnBongo Host apps. By creating an account you agree to them.

What BnBongo is

BnBongo is a marketplace. Hosts list their own homes and rooms; guests book them. The stay is an agreement between the guest and the host. BnBongo does not own or manage the properties.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older and give your real name and phone number.

  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account.

  • We may suspend accounts that break these terms, give false information or misuse the platform.

How booking and payment work

  • The guest sends a request; the host accepts or declines it within the time shown.

  • BnBongo charges a commission on each confirmed booking (currently 10% of the stay price, shown before you book). BnBongo may waive it, for example during promotions; the booking then shows nothing to pay online. Guests pay no other BnBongo fee.

  • Standard hosts: after the host accepts, the guest pays the commission by mobile money within the time shown in the app (30 minutes). Then the booking is confirmed and contact details are shared. If the guest does not pay in time, the request expires.

  • Business hosts: the commission is taken from the host’s prepaid wallet when they accept, and the guest confirms in the app within the time shown. If the guest does not confirm, the request expires and the commission goes back to the wallet.

  • The rest of the price is paid by the guest directly to the host, as agreed in the listing, at check-in.

Cancellations and refunds

  • A request can be cancelled until it is confirmed.

  • Once a booking is confirmed it cannot be cancelled in the app, and BnBongo’s commission is not refunded.

  • If something goes wrong at the property, contact BnBongo support from the booking. We will help guest and host reach a fair outcome.

Business host wallet

Business hosts top up a prepaid wallet with mobile money to pay commissions. Wallet money can only be used for BnBongo commissions; it cannot be withdrawn.

Hosts’ responsibilities

  • Describe the property honestly, with real photos, the correct location and the correct price.

  • Keep the calendar up to date and honour confirmed bookings.

  • Follow the law that applies to letting your property, including any licences and taxes.

Guests’ responsibilities

  • Respect the home, the house rules and the number of guests booked.

  • Pay the host the amount agreed at check-in.

Reviews and content

Reviews must be honest and about a real stay. You keep ownership of the photos and text you upload, and you allow BnBongo to show them on the platform. We may remove content that is false, offensive or illegal.

Liability

BnBongo works to keep listings accurate and the service running, but we cannot guarantee every stay. To the extent the law allows, BnBongo is not liable for what happens during a stay between guest and host.

Closing your account, changes and law

You can delete your account at any time (see the privacy policy). We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
